“I would be doing you a disservice if I wasn’t living THE GOOD life myself”
A Publisher’s Note should always start on a positive note, but let me take the liberty to start it on a negative one. I’ve run out of space on my iPhone. Even iCloud will be sending me hate mails soon because the past ten months as a publisher have been crazy. Never in my wildest of dreams had I thought of the experiences I would encounter in the past year to be so overwhelming and memorable. I’ve made some fine friends along the way including a few of our cover stars like Atul Kasbekar and Maniesh Paul. We’ve got Shashi Tharoor to write a column for us and with that, I’m sure many of you (and me) get a crash course in literature and politics.
I’ve stayed in the finest of hotels, ate gourmet food more often than home food, travelled to destinations that weren’t on my radar, and driven the fastest and most luxurious of cars. I’m not bragging and don’t read this as an arrogant statement. Urbane was conceptualized to show the evolved man the good life and I would be doing you, our faithful readers, a disservice if I wasn’t living that life myself. It isn’t just me but the entire team having a whale of a time to bring to you this stylish magazine every month, and I am very proud of it.
Last month, I flew to Dubai to stay at the swanky Zabeel Saray hotel, the crowned jewel at the Palm Jumeirah. Ferrari handed me the keys to the Ferrari 812 Superfast at the hotel and the next few days ended up being my highlights of 2018 thus far. My phone finally ran out of space and the last shot we took was the one you see here, capturing the flagship Ferrari in all its beauty. We’ve got ace photographers in the team who have been doing a splendid job, and our cover story on Daisy Shah is proof of that. The phone pictures might be my memories, but the ones we print are challenging the best in the business, which is very encouraging for this young magazine. 8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day so we’ve featured 10 women who have done phenomenally well in their own field of work – our Women of Substance. We will be back to a man on the cover in April and we’ve got something exciting in store. Until then, I hope you enjoy our labour of love.
