“I feel, Social on the other hand is your usual co-working space by the day and your could-be-favorite pub by the night.”
FC ROAD SOCIAL HAS FINALLY OPENED ITS GATES FOR US, AFTER A MONTH’S DISPLAY OF ITS MASSIVE SIGN VISIBLE FROM MILES AWAY, AND HAS BROUGHT ALONG WITH IT A BRAND NEW HANGOUT SPOT BY THE NAME OF SOCIAL CHHATT. EXPLORE!
Social Chhatt is newly launched by the Social chain. Attempting to stir up memories from our childhood, Chhatt has a breezy and laid back set up. Swings, chaarpayi khaat, moodas etc. Refreshing colors to compliment the upcoming spring season and an outdoor seating with endless space to accomodate people. I could imagine myself sitting out on the terrace on a lazy Sunday, reading a magazine and sipping on cocktails on tap! It also boasts of an organic garden where they grow select vegetables. I feel, Social on the other hand is your usual co-working space by the day and your could-be-favorite pub by the night. A classy bar counter, high rise chairs and couches to choose from, according to your liking and a trippy wall with rainbow lights to jazz up your Instagram stories.
It’s the launch party and for once we reach (almost) on time. The place was already swarming with the who’s who of the town. We take a look around the whole place and find ourselves a cute little corner. The servers were on their toes and were glad to get us whatever we liked and kept repeating the orders (with a smile). My favorite was the Ghee roast prawns with sponge dosa discs and South hall fired fish. The fish had a light and flaky texture and was fried with a gram flour coating, served hot with chaat masala sprinkled on it. The prawns on the other hand were tender and the hint of an achari taste from the ghee roast kept me wanting more. I’m not proud to divulge this information but at one point the server did bring a whole plate of prawns just for myself and I devoured it in under a minute. Okay moving on from the prawns, no matter how hard it may be, another interesting dish was the Bhakarwadi chaat. Crispy papdi, topped with green chutney and an assortment of other chaat toppings that I couldn’t figure out because I finished it that quickly! The cheesy jalapeno poppers on the other hand were quite basic, I expected a variation of the original recipe.
The drinks were generously on the house and they have a collection of some of the best and well made cocktails in the town, although I stuck to my usual Black & White throughout the evening, well because whisky never disappoints. Sticky toffee pudding and Pancake “appes” were the highlights from the dessert menus and to be honest, stole the show. I contemplate every evening, on my way home from work, going to FC Road Social for those prawns and fried fish. This weekend maybe!
